Jenis diabetes lainnya, yang adalah diabetes insipidus. Jadi yang dimaksud dengan diabetes, kalau tanpa keterangan lebih lanjut, adalah diabetes melitus.
Penyakit diabetes ini disebabkan oleh ketidakteraturannya metabolisme karbohidrat didalam tubuh.
